How the fee is calculated
Fee = $2.95 if price < $15, else 20% ร price. A $12 item nets $9.05 (24.6% effective); a $100 item nets $80. Buyers pay shipping over $15 (discounted rate).
Poshmark's fee is brutally simple: sales under $15 cost a flat $2.95; anything $15 and up costs 20% of the sale. Enter your price to see what you keep โ and notice how hard the 20% hits cheap items.

Poshmark fee structure is a two-piece function with a cliff that punishes low prices. Under $15 you pay a flat $2.95; at $15 and above you pay 20%. On a $12 item the flat fee is 24.6% effective, and you keep $9.05. On a $10 item it is 29.5%. A $10 sale on Poshmark costs nearly triple what the same sale costs on Depop, where the fee is 3.3% plus $0.45, about $0.78. The fix experienced Poshmark sellers use is structural, not hopeful: bundle multiple cheap items into one order so the $2.95 covers a larger total, price deliberately at $15 or above when the item can carry it, and route true sub-$10 inventory to Vinted or Depop where low prices are not penalized. The 20% rate above $15 is flat and predictable, so the entire pricing game on Poshmark happens below that line.
The commission is visible; the operating costs are not. Poshmark is a social marketplace, and closets that get shared daily, listings that join themed Posh parties, and sellers who engage with followers consistently outsell passive closets. That engagement is labor, often an hour or more a day for serious sellers. Then there are shipping discounts: when you offer a buyer discounted or free shipping to close a sale, the difference comes out of your earnings, on top of the 20%. A $40 dress sold with a $5 shipping discount nets $27, not $32. Offers to likers work the same way, a 10% price cut to convert a liker is a margin decision dressed as a feature. None of this changes the fee schedule, but all of it changes take-home. Price your closet with the assumption that a meaningful share of sales will close through a discount, and your actual average net will land where you planned it.
Same $40 blouse, two outcomes. Poshmark takes 20%, which is $8.00, leaving $32.00. Mercari takes a flat 10%, which is $4.00, leaving $36.00. Mercari is cheaper at every price above $15, and unlike Poshmark it has no regressive floor fee on cheap items either. Poshmark answers with audience quality: its buyer base is the largest dedicated fashion-resale community in the US, built around brands, styles and social follow mechanics, and it converts branded womenswear at higher prices than Mercari typically supports. The honest comparison is fee versus price realization. If a coat sells for $60 on Poshmark and $48 on Mercari, Poshmark nets $48 while Mercari nets $43.20, and the expensive platform wins. Resellers who cross-list both learn their brand mix quickly: premium and trendy womenswear stays on Poshmark, unbranded basics and kids clothing move on Mercari where the 10% keeps thin margins alive.
$2.95 flat on sales under $15, 20% commission on sales of $15 and above. No listing fees.
The $2.95 flat fee is 29.5% of a $10 sale. Bundle cheap items to cross the $15 threshold or price at $15+ where possible.
Buyers pay a discounted USPS rate; sellers can offer shipping discounts, which come out of the seller's earnings.
Earnings become available after the buyer accepts the order, or automatically about three days after delivery if the buyer does not act. From there you transfer the balance to your bank account, which typically takes a few business days. The fee, $2.95 or 20%, is deducted at sale, so your available balance is already net.
No. Sending offers to likers, building bundles and sharing to Posh parties are all free seller actions. The only commission is the standard one on the final sale price: $2.95 under $15, 20% at $15 and up. Shipping discounts you offer buyers, however, do come out of your earnings, so discounting shipping is a real margin decision.
The commission applies to your sale price. Shipping is separate: buyers pay a discounted USPS rate on orders, with Poshmark covering part of the label cost structure. If you choose to offer discounted or free shipping to win a sale, that subsidy is deducted from your earnings on top of the commission, which is where sellers lose track of their true net.
